A Lebanese Lunch at Plenty, London

It is extremely rare that I will ever take a full lunch break at work. Generally I'll take 15 minutes to go and find/heat up some food, take it back to my desk and keep on typing away; it's ridiculous, really. But isn't it so nice to actually go somewhere, sit down and relax without checking emails for a full hour? I took advantage of a Wednesday lunch break to try out Plenty on Berners Street, in wonderful Fitzrovia.

Specialising in Lebanese inspired wraps, there was a huge array of colourful salads and the option to mix and match your mezze to try a little of everything. I settled in to a cosy little nook behind the service counter with a kilner jar of fresh apple juice and attempted to whittle down what I wanted from the menu.

I decided to indulge in the different salads on offer at the front, mixing up a bowl with a little of everything that took my fancy. Cauliflower in tahini, roasted chickpeas, butternut squash with chia seeds and feta. I added a variety of roasted vegetables in olive oil, including red onion, pepper and courgette, then topped with a dollop of hummus, thick, juicy slices of halloumi and soft, crumbly falafel. It's the fresh middle eastern flavours that I never tire of; the sort of food that I love to dip in and out of when I'm in warmer climes. But this is London, so we moved on to tea.

We were treated to pots of English Breakfast to go with small bites of sticky, sweet baklava. Flaky pastry with smooth kicks of honey and crunchy chopped nuts; they were the perfect size to treat myself too without tipping me over the edge into 'inexplicably full'.

Plenty is open 9am - 5pm, seven days a week at 34 Berners Street, London.
