Another Blog Post on Tropical Prints
Saturday, 12 July 2014
I'm wearing:
T-Shirt - Primark
Shorts - ASOS £30
Plimsolls - Urban Outfitters
I've read a million blog posts on this trend, but I can't resist joining in. These shorts are too epic to pass up writing about and I'm completely head over heels obsessed with them. I am well known for being extremely grumpy when it comes to summer dressing. I get too hot too quickly, and being tall I really struggle to find a skirt, dress or shorts that aren't far too revealing. However, recently I have managed to nab a few high waisted shorts that aren't super skimpy and suit my shape and age (I'm 25, I'm not wearing hot pants, thanks). These tropical print shorts aren't the average green palm tree that dominates most items ; I love how they are relatively neutral while still showcasing a pattern. They were lingering in my ASOS wish list for about a month, and on a payday fuelled whim, I added them to my basket. They are wide in shape which makes them extremely comfortable, and hides the cleverly concealed pockets (often a bug bear of summer clothing for me). I can be wary of things this shape (hello most midi skirts) because I'm rather blessed in the hip department, but I don't think these accentuate any unflattering bits at all, in fact, rather the opposite due to where they sit on my waist. I've got a pair of sports style shorts with fluroescent palm trees on that I bought for my holiday last year (they sound horrid but I promise they're not!) so I'll be digging those out if the good weather hangs around too!
Smart Casual Shorts
Friday, 7 February 2014
It is two weeks until I fly to Australia and I am so unprepared. Rather than get my dollars sorted or buy DVT socks for the long flight, I've been browsing endless fashion sites looking for Summer inspiration. This Winter I've been relying on two pairs of shorts: one tweed, one wool - with black tights underneath of course. But I don't really own any summer shorts that aren't denim. As I'll be working in Sydney for the first two weeks I'm away, I wanted some shorts that can be both formal and casual.
I very rarely shop in Miss Selfridge as I always associate it with petite girls, and at 5ft 10 I am definitely NOT in that category. But these shorts fit perfectly and as there was 20% off the whole store online on the day I bought them, I am extremely please and very excited to debut them in Oz!

Fashion: Summer Holiday Buys
Wednesday, 5 September 2012
Booking a holiday for September is hard. All of the summer holiday fashion has pretty much been packed up and sold off in the sales, and the shops are full of Autumn/Winter wear that just isn't appropriate for a warm climate. As a last minute booking, I haven't been stocking up on my holiday wardrobe this year, so I've had to raid the high street last minute to find something I can wear. I've got quite a lot of dresses and tops I can recycle, but when it comes to bottoms I pretty much just have the standard denim shorts and that's it! I got these two items this weekend, and they are perfect for going on holiday.
How cute are these shorts?! I found them on the ASOS sale for just £7.50! I was worried they would be a bit tacky when I ordered them but I'm so pleased with them! The orange piping is right up my street, and they're baggy enough to be flattering.
I've been scared about trying printed trousers, but this silk pair from Zara aren't too brash, and the neutral colours go with pretty much anything. They'll be perfect with gold sandals for dinner with the boyfriend once the sun starts to go down. I'm really looking forward to wearing them!
