I really, truly ummed and aahed about my sudden wish for khaki trousers. This is the problem with working for a fashion retailer; I end up in meetings about trends and it ends up with me putting together a mental shopping list and convincing myself that my wardrobe is bereft without a particular item. On a recent trip back to Milton Keynes I asked my mum if we could go to Matalan as I never manage to get to one in London (although they're opening one on Oxford Street soon so that's exciting!), and lo and behold, the mighty khaki trousers appeared.
| I'm wearing: Jacket - H&M Necklace - Not on the High Street Cami top - ASOS Trousers - Matalan Shoes - Topshop |
In the end I realised that basic was best - the khaki is a statement on its own, so I went for my trusted black but in different shapes and textures to make it a bit more interesting. The plain, loose fit cami from ASOS is my favourite staple top for Spring/Summer and the neckline made it just right for my initials pendant necklace from Not On The High Street. The fringed cardigan from H&M is my evening replacement for my bog standard cardi I always chuck in my bag in case I get chilly and steps it up from being an essential cover up to a pretty damn fancy addition to an outfit. I love it.
The shoes are another item that is helping me transition my wardrobe to a slighter more chic place to be, and sits well in the 'it goes with everything' collection I'm building. I'm getting too old for massive heels now but I don't always want to be wearing flats, especially on nights out so this block heel is the perfect height and width to ensure I don't hate myself an hour after wearing them. I love the mock-croc effect and the small ankle strap which brings it all together into one great big super shoe. Expect to see these on these pages a lot more in the future!
How are you wearing khaki? I'd love to know your styling tips.

I saw you wearing it in a post recently, I love it too. There's a couple of great jumpers in the Topshop sale that I'm tempted by.

I had a pair of khaki jeans and had to give them to a charity shop after deciding they were not working for me. Yours look so fabulous and fancy. The fit on you looks great too! I think the trouble with mine was that they were too long so I had to roll them up at the bottom but they still looked weird haha. Also a moment to appreciate those Topshop shoes- they're great! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's rare I find trousers that actually come to my ankles! The shoes are getting a lot of love - they were such a good bargain.
