Tomorrow sees me jetting off on my second weekend city break of the year, and with at least another three in the pipeline, I've got my hand luggage only packing perfected to a tee. I can be found in departures with my trusty Antler hardshell roll-along case (preferably with a cute luggage tag) and in it is everything I need for a couple of days wandering a new country, but travelling light means precision packing and strategic storage (and awesome alliteration...).
For comfort on short-haul flights (which are inevitably with a cheap and often-not-so-pretty airline), I always carry a neck pillow and eye mask to try and get 40 winks wherever possible. Don't be expecting travel blankets and complimentary headphones with Ryanair - it's every woman for themselves!
And I am allllllll about simplicity for finding everything you need by easily splitting things out. A travel documents wallet means you have passport, boarding pass and currency all in one convenient spot, and I love a transparent pouch to store lip balm, earplugs and other essentials you want specifically for the journey. Take it out of your main case and you've got everything you need in one place. A storage box for jewellery and those frickin' adorable Kate Spade clothes bags means I know where everything is when I arrive too.
I always want to make sure that I have a bit of room for souvenirs in my hand luggage when I come back, so a travel cosmetics set (plus any mini make-up bits) means I use everything up by the last day and don't have to take half empty bottles back with me, clearing up some much needing spending space.
And if your airline is nice enough, you will also be able to take a handbag alongside your main bag. I opt for a backpack so I'm relatively hands free but that always includes sunglasses (good for early morning flying puffy eyes, even if you're going somewhere cold), and a handheld fan. That baby has saved me on many a flight where the aircon has died. Because like I said: budget airlines.

I'm nosy, so I love peeking into what other people carry in their bags! I was wondering if my Smythson travel wallet would be a waste of money (even though it was a bday present from my parents ... that I purchased at Heathrow myself haha "THANK YOU, MOM AND DAD!" Dad: "What IS it?") but I use it ALL. THE. TIME. It's so good. Now I'm an advocate of travel wallets, especially as a non-British passport holder I have to keep my residence permit and my Registered Traveller card on me at all times when I'm travelling.

They are super handy when you have to have visitor cards and visas, and I always have my hotel info at hand too so I know where I'm going from the airport without faffing around. I would love a sturdier one than the one I have though!
