What I Wore to London Fashion Week

There's something about Fashion Week that is utterly fascinating. Seeing the street style, the trends on the catwalks and the glamorous front row occupants, I'm hooked on reading the round-ups and  pinning my favourite looks to get inspiration for the months to come. I've attended a Fashion Scout show and London Fashion Weekend before, but this season is the first time I've attended full-blown designer shows, and I was SO excited. But oh! What to wear!

First up was the daytime shows: Jasper Conran at Somerset House and Julien Macdonald at the Foreign Office.

I'm wearing:

Heels - Faith at Debenhams*

I adore clashing prints and a matching two piece, but I rarely wear the latter. My first outfit was inspired by matching separates by Preen for Debenhams which I spotted at work. I got the amazing floral print trousers in the Zara Christmas sale, and they're perfect for summer with a bold colour and a cut off length (or is that just because I'm tall?). I was a little uninspired when I put on my plain white cami but when I chucked my old favourite floral bomber on with it I realised that they actually went together perfectly! Although not the exact same pattern, the tones are similar and they're both just as busy. I almost went for my silver wedge sandals with it, but it was just too cold, so I wore a pair of coral courts from Faith at Debenhams, which just so happened to be the exact shade of the florals on my trousers. I was so pleased with how the outfit turned out and I'm definitely keeping this in my back pocket for Summer nights out and wedding receptions!

I then channeled my inner diva and changed my outfit for the evening when I attended the House of Holland show (which I couldn't have been MORE excited for!).

The light wasn't great in the venue before and after the actual show, so you can't see too much detail here, but I actually love this outfit. It's going to be a new Winter night out favourite I can tell. It seems that Fashion Week is all about cool casual - hence all the pics of people wearing trainers, dungarees and other items I wore as a child to minimise mess. So I tucked in my thin white sweater to dress down my leather skirt and wore my favourite big clumpy vintage boots, which I think equalled out the dressed up and casual quite nicely. A big old silver chain added a bit of edge to something very plain, but my favourite bit of the outfit was my neon yellow Perspex box clutch. I know mini bags are all the rage at the moment, but I'll be screwed if I can fit all my stuff in one. I've owned this one for a while, and it was the bit of colour that I needed to celebrate the crazy nature of Henry Holland, but thank god I wore a big coat that I could stuff my necessities in the pockets.

Dressing for LFW was a fascinating experience in itself. If I go again, I'll be investing in a statement coat for the February shows, and I definitely won't be afraid to rock a decent pair of flats either!
