Although not a fancy dress event, my recent trip to the Faulty Towers Dining Experience made me want to channel the 70s again. This time I switched my fringed suede waistcoat for two other pieces synonymous with that decade and all over the high street at the moment.
Setting Sail on Ladbrokes' Floating Casino
Saturday, 9 May 2015
I really struggle with formal wear. I'm much more of a smart casual person: a pair of well-fitting jeans and some heels is what I'm most comfortable in on a night out, plus I'm rarely invited to something with a dress code. I had a slight meltdown when Emma (Miss Pond) invited me along to the #LadbrokesPartyLife event and there was talk of dressing up all fancy. I bought, and subsequently returned, three potential dresses from ASOS and eventually decided on something I already owned.
How Does Anyone Look Good in Winter?!
Friday, 1 February 2013
No, really. How? Because I just keep wearing the same outer layers over and over, and I would have frozen if it wasn't for these Winter staples:
For my birthday my boyfriend bought me this amazingly toasty coat from Warehouse and I've hardly taken it off since September. My Kurt Geiger leather and wool glove/mittens and my Topshop wool scarf are oldies but goodies, reappearing every year and always faithfully warm. A new addition is my hat, which keeps my hat surprisingly covered, but I do have a very unflattering wool beanie tucked away for more blustery snow days! These wellies have seen me through the dusty fields of Bestival this year and have also helped me negotiate the massive hill I live up in the ice that we saw a few weeks ago.
And even though I'm glad the snow has gone now, it was nice while it lasted, both in London and during my visit to the Lake District.
What are your Winter wardrobe must-haves? Is there anything you go back to year after year?

Leather and Wool
Wednesday, 28 November 2012
Winter's well and truly here, but let's be honest, it never leaves England for long. It's all very well getting a winter coat, but cold weather accessories like scarves, hats and gloves are carried around in people's bags well into Spring, just in case.
Last Christmas I got these amazing leather and wool mittens in the Kurt Geiger sale, reduced from £75 to a mere £15.
I've seen mittens that fold back into gloves many times, but I love that these have a gold zip to keep my fingers warm, and an unobtrusive black popper to hold them back. The contrast of grey leather and red wool always gets them noticed whenever I wear them too.
I can't recommend checking out the Kurt Geiger sale at Christmas as they always have massive reductions. I always just saw them as a shoe retailer (which they are mainly), but their accessories are affordable and not worn to death by everyone else on a high street budget.

Shopping: Kurt Geiger Sale Picks

Just a mini post to show off my latest bargain purchase!
While casually browsing the Kurt Geiger sale I found these beauties reduced from £70 to just £18!
They are so pretty! Real leather, and I love the stone colour with red. Best of all, they fold back and turn into gloves:
I knew Kurt Geiger did accessories, but thought it was mainly limited to bags. Their sale has loads of fab items up to 75% off.
The willpower I'm exercising to NOT buy everything at the moment is immense. But I'm pleased with the mittens anyway!
